Hi Autumn Belle, They are gorgeous photos. Did you know that you can change the colour of the Hydrengea through the acidity of the soil? In New Zealand, they are mostly pink on one island and blue on the other, but we can change it artificially too. I found some more info about it on this website: http://www.greenhaus.co.nz/tipshydrangeacolour.html
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have a go at growing them here. They always remind me of my grandmother. In fact, the flowers were so popular at one stage that many retirees would be able to sell their blooms to suppliment their incomes.
Gorgeous photos. I knew about the acidity changing the colour as Nicola mentioned in her comment, but I had no idea New Zealand hydrangeas vary between the islands!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful they all are Autumn. I love hydrangeas and keep sticking more in the limited space I have. Beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteYes, apparently one island is more acidic than the other. Maybe it's the volcanoes! There are more in the north than the south.
ReplyDeletePhew lovely lovely lovely..nice pixz. tQ.
ReplyDeleteOh my god! These flowers are stunning.
