Oh Dear, I have a PROBLEM with my Picasa Web Album, but Happy New Year 2012 Anyway!

I have just discovered that every picture I have uploaded from Blogger since 22 Dec 2011 is showing up in my Picasa Web Album in its own album, instead of my blog photo album. Now they keep adding new photo albums which are classified by DAY which means I am going to have many albums. Prior to this, all uploaded pictures automatically went into my related blogs' albums.

Check your Picasa Web Album. Are you having the same problem when you upload photos to Blogger ?

How do you revert back from Google+ to good old Google?

Actually I broke my promise "to see you in 2012" as per my last Christmas post, but because of this Google present, I'm here again. So I'll be patient and wait for Google to solve this problem.

Meanwhile, let's look back at  Year 2011:

And at the stroke of midnight, lets celebrate together!

HAPPY NEW YEAR ....
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012!

TO ALL MY FRIENDS EVERYWHERE,
IN FLESH, IN MEMORY AND IN CYBERSPACE.

Samoans - For the first time in history, you are the first to celebrate. Samoa and Tokelau shall make a great leap forward by 1 day i.e. from Thursday 30th to Saturday 31st (thereby skipping Friday) to welcome 2012. Congratulations!

Lyrics of the Happy New Year song by ABBA:
No more champagne
And the fireworks are through
Here we are, me and you
Feeling lost and feeling blue
It's the end of the party
And the morning seems so grey
So unlike yesterday
Now's the time for us to say

Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we don't we might as well lay down and die
You and I

Sometimes I see
How the brave new world arrives
And I see how it thrives
In the ashes of our lives
Oh yes, man is a fool
And he thinks he'll be okay
Dragging on, feet of clay
Never knowing he's astray
Keeps on going anyway

Happy new year
Happy new year

May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we don't we might as well lay down and die
You and I

Seems to me now
That the dreams we had before
Are all dead, nothing more
Than confetti on the floor
It's the end of a decade
In another ten years time
Who can say what we'll find
What lies waiting down the line
In the end of eighty-nine

Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we don't we might as well lay down and die
You and I

  1. I was using picasa until April 2011 then i switch to flickr to store the images and link them to the blog. I then use Lightroom to manage the photo uploads!
I hope you solve the problem soon!
I wish you good health going into 2012!

  2. I have no idea as I now do the reverse; I put the photos into picasa first, and label the albums plus setting the appropriate security, then click add photos from my picasa or add it as url.

  3. Wong, I thought Flickr has limited storage. Now, I must take note of Lightroom. Thanks for the wishes, I'll definitely need it. Hope I won't have to carry forward this problem to 2012 :(

Sean, I guess that's what I need to do at the moment. I just checked with this the addition of this picture but the problem still persists. I loaded one photo and they created a new photo album named 30 Dec 2011.

I reported this problem at Google Help Forum and found that it is not only me who's affected. I wonder if any of my blogger frens face the same problem?

  6. I don't use picasa web albums but photobucket or flickr. I prefer photobucket as I'm not so sure if once you reach your limit on the free flickr account if your blog pictures still show up on the post. I've got lightroom cs3 too but I never use it to upload to other sites. It is more of a photographers editing program for RAW photos and catalogue storage for photographs on your own computer.

    Have a Happy New Year

  7. I don't actively use Picasa web albums. Never could fathom them. Pictures I want to share are on the blog posts, not in a public album.

  8. I'm using Picassa & don't have a problem (yet) but also I haven't switched to th new google version. I've noticed the default is the date but I can still choose to put the photos into albums.
Hope you can solve your problem....and Happy New Year.

  9. Karin, Happy New Year to you too!

Lona, you are right! Although I have cold feet whenever Google introduces something new, I grit my teeth and bear with the process, learn new things along the way. I guess we are forced to improve and update ourselves in this way which is a good thing, otherwise we will always be stagnant with technology knowledge.

Rosie, thank you very much for the wishes and advice which is much appreciated. Happy New Year to you too!

Diana, I am same status with you. The pictures were uploaded via blog posts, just that when I checked my picasa web album contents, I noticed the problem. Happy New Year, Diana!

Missy, yes, I tested my blogs and found that this problem is not caused by switching to Google+
    Happy New Year,Missy!

  19. Happy New Year Autumn Belle! I still have a whole day before it is new year for me :)

Even so, my friend, it looks like Picasa is doing the same to my photos- different album for each time I work on a posting!! I upload direct to the blog and Picasa does its own thing with the photos. I stopped checking on the Picasa Album in 2011 as it was not adding them to any album but it was appearing and is still appearing on my blog, including my last posting Rainy garden offering. My last Picasa album was in Aug 2010!!!There must be a glitch somewhere.

Looks like I am going to need more space on Picasa. I have to say I did go to the new google format and revert back to old recently......

  20. I haven't bothered with Picasa because I have too many other things to juggle. Just not enough hours in the day for everything. I've enjoyed this post and the news about Samoa is quite interesting. As I posted on your flower blog, Happy New Year to you and see you in the new year!

  24. sorry to hear about your blogging woes. i think it probably has something to do with Picasa settings. i've been using Flickr all this while but don't worry about the limited storage. even though you've reached the limits of a free account, your pictures will still show up in your blog posts. nothing will be deleted from your Flickr. i've not used Photobucket but i heard that the system is always down.

    Happy New Year.

  27. Happy new year! I noticed that with the albums but I kinda like it because it help me access my shot quicker when they are in smaller folders....otherwise I have to wait forever to load the shots. All my best!

  29. Hi Autumn Belle: I had the same problem. Google said I ran out of space and gave me the option to switch to Google+, which I did to allow unlimited photo storage. Now all my posts have a separate Picasa album. I like Sean's idea of loading the photos into Picasa first and then linking to them. I think I'll do that, too. Good luck, and Happy New Year! Beth

  31. To my frens who newly joined in, Thank you very much for the New Year wishes and suggestions to solving my Picasa problem.

As at now, there are no changes to my Picasa status and to add to this, my other City Daily Photo blog running on Blogger is also affected. Google is still working on it. Meanwhile, I think I'll have to use Sean's method until then.

Info from Picasa on Account Upload Limits:

  36. Autumn Belle: Happy New Year to you!!! Hope you have solved your problem. Thank you so much for identifying "Strobilanthes cusia" or "Chinese Rain Bell" for me. I compared the images on the internet to my plant, and they are identical. Thanks again! I have updated my post with this plant name.

  37. I'm having exactly the same issue with all the pictures in my blog and Picassa - I usually upload first and then link to the pictures and it is still putting them into separate albums - really very annoying!

  38. All the best for 2012, A.Belle!

Yes, I too faced the same problem when I checked my Picasa Web Albums a fortnight ago but managed to rectify it. Are you still facing the problem?

If so, just do the following:
    1. Click on each of the new album to open the larger picture.
    2. Select 'Actions' at the menu bar above the picture and choose 'Move to another album' from the dropdown.
    3. A window opens - choose to move it to an existing album and follow through from there.
    4. Once the picture is moved to your correct blog's album, you can then delete the wrongly created 'new album'.

Repeat the same for all the wrongly created albums by day.
Your next uploaded pictures should then be automatically added to your related blogs' albums as before.

That was what I did and all's well for me now.

    Hope this helps. :-)
