Guess who am I?
ReplyDeleteI've no idea who that caterpillar is, but really enjoyed your photos of him. He's really quite beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love the guy in the first photo... most adorable with dashing blue eyes. I almost see him smiling with such full lips!!.. It could be a girl ha?... hehe.

Autumn Belle, this green thingie is so cute! The eyes are so huge. It does look like an alien at first glance. Also, it has a nice shade of green. I hope it will it will turn into a beautiful adult soon. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteMy dear friends, the hint is in the last photo. I think she's my mummy. Well, you see, mummy left me as soon as she gave birth to me. When I came out from the egg, I was on a calamansi leaf, later someone brought me to this periwinkle place. I love it here and my job now is to eat and grow big. Dad? I don't even know who's my mum, what is dad?
ReplyDeleteYou like my 2 bright eyespots? They are not my eyes but something nice to make me look cute so that humans will let me off and not kill me. Their main purpose is to make me look more like a monster to scare of my predators. Actually I have 6 pairs of eyes.
That caterpillar is very cute! That would still be true even if it were from another planet. One can find the most interesting shapes and markings in other creatures.
ReplyDeleteYa got me. I have no clue but that's a cool find.
ReplyDeleteMy first reaction was are those eyes for real! Amazing creature we share this earth with. wow great capture! Happy WW
ReplyDeleteI had the caterpillar from the lime plant turned into cocoon and butterfly - it looked the same.
ReplyDeleteBut I had yet to get the caterpillar on my vinca plant yet.
Now the answer we are looking for:
ReplyDeleteI am quite sure that this big fat caterpillar is that of the oleander hawk moth (Daphnis nerii). I did a search on the internet and found this information. It feeds on periwinkle and oleander plants, the leaves which are poisonous.
The little caterpillar on the lime leaf should be that of the lime butterfly aka swallowtail (papilio demoleus).
Because I didn’t want my lime plants damaged, I had transferred the little caterpillar to the periwinkle plant thinking that these little fellas won’t feel the difference. This may just be a coincidence. Maybe the oleander hawk moth’s eggs were already there when I did the transfer. I didn’t know and got it all mixed up. A day after I took the picture of this big caterpillar, it has disappeared. I had 3 of them of around the same size on 2 of my periwinkle plants. All 3 had disappeared. I can’t find any chrysalis around either.
I hope someone can help me identify them.
Very interesting That's why the 'eyes' look so odd
ReplyDeleteI do not like caterpillar, but the blue eyes are fascinating.
ReplyDeleteA. Belle,
ReplyDeleteSo fascinating! And such vibrant green, love the photos. But I am glad he is in your garden, not mine. :)

I haven't even begun trying to identify the caterpillars and butterflies yet, but that one is fascinating. :)
ReplyDeleteSuper series. The shots of the alien are terrific.
ReplyDeleteYour photography blows me away. And I love your voice of the caterpillar. You could write cartoons!
ReplyDeleteOh that is just too darn cute for words! I don't know how much damage the little guy could do but I might be tempted to plant a little garden just for him and his friends.
ReplyDeleteHe is a cute little alien caterpillar. Charming blue eyes :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute little caterpillars :) Hopefully they didn't stray too far away.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like a guy who ate all leaves from my tomato plants when we lived in the Midwest. But yours is cuter, he has eyes (fake, but eyes)!
ReplyDeleteJust look at those big blue eyes ;-) Strange little fellow but pretty.
ReplyDeleteBaby caterpillar says thank you very much for all the nice compliments about its 'eyes' and skin colour. Hopefully, now you all will agree that he is environmental friendly too. After all he is all green! LOL.
