Royal Floria Putrajaya 2019 or Floria 2019 (Floria Diraja 2019) celebrates its 11th anniversary as Malaysia's popular international flower and garden festival which has been held in Putrajaya since 2007.

It coincides with Malaysia's Independence Day or Merdeka Day celebrations which falls on 31st August 2019.

Here's a complete guide to Malaysia's annual flower festival:

Date: 31st August - 8th September 2019

Venue: Taman Botani Putrajaya (Putrajaya Botanical Gardens), Precinct 1

Do take note that there is a change in venue again!

This year Floria 2019, will he held at Putrajaya Botanical Garden or Taman Botani Putrajaya, a botanical garden located at Precinct 1, Putrajaya, Malaysia.

Their official address is:
Taman Botani Putrajaya

Lebuh Perdana Barat, Precinct 1

Coincidentally, Taman Botani Putrajaya is also known as the "Mother of All Gardens". With a size of 92 hectares, it is Malaysia's largest botanical garden with more than 700 species of plants.

It is a good excuse to visit the Putrajaya Botanical Garden if you have not done so. Its kind of like one stone kills two birds, right?

But do take note that Taman Botani Putrajaya will be closed to the public from 13th to 30th August to facilitate preparations for Floria 2019.

How to get to Floria 2019?
Use Waze (search keyword: Taman Botani Putrajaya) if you are travelling by own transport. Be aware of road closures on 31st August for Merdeka Day celebrations at Dataran Putrajaya.

For public transportation, you can take the train or bus to Putrajaya Sentral

a) Train: take KLIA Transit** at KL Sentral to Putrajaya Sentral
b) Bus: Rapid KL 502 bus from Serdang KTM Station to Putrajaya Sentral or 506 bus from Bandar Utama to Putrajaya Sentral

** Do not confuse this with the KLIA Express which travels non-stop from KL Sentral to KLIA & KLIA2 airports. So, DO NOT take the KLIA Express but take the KLIA Transit. KLIA Transit has a stopover at Putrajaya Sentral on its way to KLIA airport. You can check the fares here.

The KLIA Transit route is like this:
KL Sentral - Bandar Tasik Selatan - Putrajaya & Cyberjaya - Salak Tinggi - KLIA - KLIA2.

Get down at the "Putrajaya & Cyberjaya" stop. This is actually Putrajaya Sentral which is Putrajaya city's main transportation hub with a train station, bus station as well as taxi station.

At Putrajaya Sentral Station, the options are as follows:
a) take the Nadi Putra L15 bus to Taman Botani Putrajaya

b) take Grab or taxi (estimate cost is RM 10 from Putrajaya Sentral to Taman Botani).

Unfortunately, there is no free shuttle bus service from Putrajaya Sentral to Floria 2019. This may inconvenience visitors from outside Putrajaya who have to use public transport. The handicapped and persons with disabilities may face difficulties commuting to and from Floria 2019.

There is another method which is by cruising along the lake. You can take the cruise/water taxi at 2 separate locations, i.e. Kelab Tasik Putrajaya at Precinct 8 or Cruise Tasik Putrajaya at Precinct 1.

For those who are staying at Pulse Grande Hotel Putrajaya, there is a free shuttle service from hotel to Floria 2019. They have a special Floria Room Package here.

The FREE shuttle bus service is available to take you to the grounds of Floria 2019 if you park your car at the following places:

1. Kompleks E
2. Dataran Pahlawan
3. Kompleks B
4. Laman Perdana
5. B13 (Dataran Putra)
6. Taman Putra Perdana
7. Istana Melawati
8. Pusat Rekreasi Air
9. Kelab Tasik Putrajaya

Visitors who wish to shop at the Horticulture & Garden Bazaar will face some difficulties getting their purchases to the car which is parked far away. You can't take many potted plants or packs of fertilizers into those shuttle buses to get back to your car which is parked at the above 9 locations, right?

Plan before going
Go with a positive mind, and expect to see lots and many types of fresh flowers, landscaped show gardens. The fresh flowers are mainly for display.

Vendors at the Hortmart & Garden Bazaar sell mainly live plants, gardening accessories and other gardening related products.

This year, the Hortmart & Garden Bazaar is located outside the ticketing booth. There is no need to pay an entrance fee. Those who wish to buy plants can go straight to the Hortmart & Garden Bazaar. The entrance fee is  who wish to enter the botanical garden to visit the flower displays and exhibitions.

Start early if you wish to find a good parking space. If your car is parked far away, you will need some assistance e.g. from friend, family or vendor to carry your purchases.

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, also bring along your sunblock, sunglasses, drinking water, some snacks, a cap or umbrella.

Most of the exhibits are in the outdoors with a few housed indoors. The Indoor Pavilion is air-conditioned for cooling comfort. It is located at the main entrance of the botanic garden. This is where they have the Orchids and Floral Designs exhibition.
