Jan 2011 GBBD and Foliage Follow-Up - My Roses

Currently, I have 3 pots of roses in my garden. Yes, 3 pots with 5 colours. How?

This pot contains 3 rose plants in 3 different colours, i.e. orange, light pink and dark pink. It was already like this when I bought it from the nursery. For the other 2 pots, one is a yellow rose while another is a miniature and of pale purple colour.

“Jan 2011 GBBD and Foliage Follow-Up - My Roses”, a copyrighted post, was written for My Nice Garden blog by Autumn Belle @ http://www.mynicegarden.com/ on January 14th, 2010.

I have created a Table of Contents under the 'Archives' Page on my top menu. It contains a list of all the titles I have posted since I started blogging. It is listed in chronological order and sorted by date. You can also create a 'Sitemap' showing your posts according to groupings, just like the 'Label' Gadget by Blogger. I learnt how to do this from Jacqueline at Jacq’s Blogger Tips*. Her link is here*. Jacq is also a Blotanical member.
Do visit her blog to find out more. She has posted many wonderful blogging tips that are very useful for non-tech savy gardeners like me.

As you already know, I have created a Facebook for Autumn Belle. I am still in the learning stage with not much activity. Last year (I think), I also signed up for Twitter but I hardly use it because I have nothing to tweet.

I have also created a Facebook Page for My Nice Garden. I understand that we can post an unlimited number of photos there. How true is it, I really don't know. The benefit is that we can interact faster and have a 2-way communication with our 'Friends' on Facebook. It is good to keep up with changes in technology.

You can view the My Nice Garden Page which is at the sidebar. If you like my page you can click 'Like' overthere.

As I don't have time to play games at Facebook, please accept my sincere apologies if you have sent any invitations or requests for games stuff and I have not yet responded. I don't even know how to play games there.

When I received my first rose from my darling, (once upon a time, a long long time ago, in a place far far away.....), I didn't want to throw it away long after it had withered. The petals didn't last long but I could keep the dried up leaves as a bookmark. Now that there are many new methods for crafting, I wonder what are the options or best method to preserve these gifted roses for rememberance. Maybe the easiest way is still the digital form.

Do you keep the roses given by your loved ones or do you throw them away after they have wilted?

Now, this post I am linking to a few memes to support my blogger friends.

  5. Seemed like you are now "diversifying" your "product lines":

    Blogger, twitter, facebook...

just like the various roses in one pot.

  16. Your roses are beautiful, but so are the photos of them. I may at sometime have a FB page for GWGT, but it seems like so much to do for a blog. Too many places to check. Maybe it is me and I just don't understand the process. I will check out the link you posted.

  18. Very lovely roses! And thanks for sharing the sites. I am not much of a IT savvy blogger too. In fact now that my blog is stable, I stop learning new gadgets. It's a good wake up call. Thanks.

  19. Your roses are gorgeous, as are the photos of them, love all the different colors...I read up on the cameras you have used and are using, it was very helpful as I am looking for a new camera. I don't "tweet", have gotten bored with "facebook" and the games, however, I love blogging. After my husband passed away in 2009, having a blog gave me back my interest in life!

  24. Beautiful display of roses... but we only have one in the garden... very ordinary kampung species which somehow loves Kelantan weather tremendously. Huh, you are now getting into the nitty gritty of internet with facebook and twitter abnd so on.... good luck, and happy gardening.... ~bangchik

  25. Lovely roses! They look very healthy! I have 3 pots but i'm going to toss them away soon after i found the replacements. They look old and weak already after giving me flowers for a year... Just wonder, how long can you keep your roses?

  26. Your roses bring lots of warm cheer! I especially love the photo of the orange one (third to the last, I think). Beautiful. Happy GBBD!

  28. Beautiful Roses! I have two miniature roses growing in my garden. "Heartbreaker" & "Tiddlywinks". My wife has pressed roses from when we were dating (over 25 years ago)and we still have them. I too signed up for twitter and did nothing with it for a long time. I linked my blog posts to tweet each time I posted on my blog. That gave me something to tweet! I now have about 500 followers on twitter! Add me @redneckrosarian and I will as my followers to follow you too! Happy Gardening! Enjoy the roses!

you have a wonderful display of these miniatures, i think i'll have to try some potted to since they don't do to well here in the humid air.

  34. Hi Autumn Belle, the selection of roses (and colors) for your rose collage is spectacular. I also like your table of contents, and looked right away at your camera reviews since I'm thinking of buying a new camera myself. Thanks for that, and for your visits to my blog. Barbara

  35. Gosh, your roses are beautiful, so are the photos and I can almost get the lovely fragrance just looking at them here! :-)

Thanks for mentioning about my blogger tips, A. Belle and providing the link! Like you, I've much to learn too but just sharing along the way whatever I've learned thus far, knowing that others may benefit and that my aging brain will definitely fail me if I don't record them.

  36. What beautiful roses Autumn. Roses are one of my favourite flowers.

  37. your roses are healthy, unlike my mother's, because they are just left on their own, which i sometimes prune when i go home once-in-a while. I was there last weekend and i have not been blogging there, just take photos of whatever. I was late here and i see you have lots of comments, that's a lot.

  38. Hi everyone. Thank you very much for the kind comments and encouragement in growing roses. I really like their fragrance and they are gorgeous. I hope they can last long.

Redneck Rosarian, thank your for your information regarding twitter. I never knew that we can tweet about our posts. Now, I will look into tweeter once again.

Theanne and Babara, it is important to read user reviews and do comparisons before buying a camera. There are some online sites that does comparisons between different camera models automatically for you.
