I am quite sur...Now the answer we are looking for:

I am quite sure that this big fat caterpillar is that of the oleander hawk moth (Daphnis nerii). I did a search on the internet and found this information. It feeds on periwinkle and oleander plants, the leaves which are poisonous.

The little caterpillar on the lime leaf should be that of the lime butterfly aka swallowtail (papilio demoleus).

Because I didn’t want my lime plants damaged, I had transferred the little caterpillar to the periwinkle plant thinking that these little fellas won’t feel the difference. This may just be a coincidence. Maybe the oleander hawk moth’s eggs were already there when I did the transfer. I didn’t know and got it all mixed up. A day after I took the picture of this big caterpillar, it has disappeared. I had 3 of them of around the same size on 2 of my periwinkle plants. All 3 had disappeared. I can’t find any chrysalis around either.

I hope someone can help me identify them.Autumn Bellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00818422090556602092noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1660561043857404056.post-22765058118613349502009-09-23T18:33:59.332+08:002009-09-23T18:33:59.332+08:00I had the caterpillar from the lime plant turned i...I had the caterpillar from the lime plant turned into cocoon and butterfly - it looked the same.
But I had yet to get the caterpillar on my vinca plant yet.James Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01423981835876393119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1660561043857404056.post-37601740057828113632009-09-23T14:27:35.901+08:002009-09-23T14:27:35.901+08:00My first reaction was are those eyes for real! When I came out from the egg, I was on a calamansi leaf, later someone brought me to this periwinkle place. I love it here and my job now is to eat and grow big. Dad? I don't even know who's my mum, what is dad?

You like my 2 bright eyespots? They are not my eyes but something nice to make me look cute so that humans will let me off and not kill me. Their main purpose is to make me look more like a monster to scare of my predators.
