Putrajaya Floria 2012 - The 1Malaysia International Night Floral Parade "Magic of the Night"

1. Night view of entrance to Floria 2012

This is the 5th year we are having the Putrajaya Flower and Garden Festival but I have never been to Floria at night. Anyway, there is always a first time!

To get to the venue, we had to park our car very far and walk a quite a distance. By the time the show ended, we were stuck in a terrible traffic jam that seemed to last for ages.

2. Pathway leading to the VVIP area at main stage

There was a huge crowd on opening night. Almost everyone who went to Floria 2012 had a camera in hand. Some carry lighted wands, whistles and party packs. There was an atmosphere of camaderie among the people; young and old, couples, whole families from grandparents, parents to young children.

I am sure that many fellow bloggers are here too, at the same time, same location to witness these moments of celebration. An overseas garden blogger (you know who you are ^_^) is here. My readers are also among the crowd. To all of you, I hope you had a great time at Floria 2012!

3. LED lights along the sidewalk

At night, the venue of Floria 2012 was lighted up like a magical wonderland.
Glittering LED displays light up the whole place in a kaleidoscope of colours.
A twinkle here, a sparkle there .....

4.

Lively music to entertain the crowd with live coverage on the giant TV screen.

5.

Lakeview of the futuristic 240m long Seri Wawasan Bridge, the landmark of Putrajaya city.

6.

Every moment it was changing, alternating between the different colours of a rainbow.

7.

I was at the waterfront, standing beside the lake.
I was waiting for the first sparkle of fireworks to light up the sky.
I was enchanted.

8.

I hope you'll like it too.

9.

The 1Malaysia International Night Floral Parade was officially launched by our Queen, HRH the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Hamimah and a burst of fireworks exploded in the sky.

The theme is "Magic of the Night".

10.

The pyrotechnics display at Putrajaya Lake.

11. Float from JOHOR state

The night event is organised by Tourism Malaysia and it complements Floria 2012.

12. Float from the state of MELAKA

A total of 15 decorated, lighted floatillas cruised along the Putrajaya Lake.

Participating boats are from the various states of Malaysia,
China, Kenya and also from the Tourism Ministry and Tourism Malaysia.

13. Float from PERAK state

Look out for the first participant, a float from Suzhou, China which I think is the most beautiful and impressive. I can't show the picture here because my photos were over-exposed. Next came Kenya's float. The photos were also over-exposed! Hence, now I don't have any photos on the only 2 international participants. Lesson learnt:  Test your camera settings before the photography session begin.

This floral parade will be on every night during the whole duration of Floria 2012 from 30 June to 8 July 2012. It starts at 8:30pm. There will also be a 5 min. fireworks display to end the night.

  1. Oh you were there till the show ended! It must have been a long day for you. I loved the fireworks, but didn't like the Perak float that released birds at night. Some of them dived into the lake. Traffic was indeed horrible after the show. We parked at the parking lot just beyond the stalls so we took our own sweet time to walk to the car and head back.

    1. The night parade is from 8:45 - 9:30pm. I think the jam will not be as bad during a weekday. You can get the link to Floria 2012's floor plan, location map and program details from my post here:
